Train
Tatkal ticket booking will require Aadhaar from July 1 - IRCTC
Yes,
starting July 1, 2025, Indian Railways has implemented new rules for booking
Tatkal train tickets through the IRCTC website and mobile app. To enhance
transparency and prevent misuse, Aadhaar-based authentication is now mandatory
for all Tatkal bookings.
Key
Changes Effective July 1, 2025
Aadhaar
Linking Required: Passengers must link their Aadhaar numbers to their IRCTC
accounts. Without this, Tatkal ticket bookings will not be permitted.
OTP
Verification: From July 15, 2025, an additional layer of security will be
introduced. Passengers will need to authenticate their bookings using a
One-Time Password (OTP) sent to their Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers.
Agent
Booking Restrictions: Authorized agents will face new limitations. They will be
restricted from booking Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the
booking window:
AC
Classes: 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM
Non-AC

This measure ensures that individual passengers have a fair opportunity to book
tickets during peak times.
